Overview

Edyth Starkie was a female Irish artist born in county Galway. Having studied at Slade School in London, and then the Académie Julian in Paris, Starkie continued to study in Germany. In 1903, she married Arthur Rackham, an English book illustrator and watercolour artist. 

 

Edyth’s works were displayed in exhibitions at the Royal Academy of Arts, and her works were purchased for the National Museum, Barcelona, where she had won a gold medal at the Barcelona International Exposition for her painting The Black Veil in 1911.
