Sir George Clausen was a British artist known for his oil and watercolour paintings,  etchings, mezzotints, and lithographs. He studied in London and then in Paris at the Académie Julian

Known for various works that depict landscapes, peasant life, and portraits, his legacy is huge. He was a founding member of the New English Art Club. In 1895, he became an Associate of the Royal Academy, and a full Academician in 1906.
